Corinna Mannion
Experienced English Tutor
GCSE & A Level Specialist
Providing the Best Services To All Ages
Is your child struggling to understand English texts or stuck at a low grade? I specialise in helping GCSE students who feel overwhelmed by literature texts and need support in how to pass the language and literature examinations. I break down difficult texts into clear, simple ideas and teach students how to structure high-mark answers. I help students of all ages build confidence quickly and achieve real progress in English, whether they are preparing for exams or strengthening everyday reading and writing skills.

5-11
Primary School

I help primary pupils grow in confidence with reading and writing through lively, supportive lessons. I strengthen core skills in spelling, grammar and comprehension while making learning enjoyable and encouraging creativity.
11-16
Secondary School

If you find English confusing or you don’t know how to answer exam questions, you are not alone – it can be fixed!
I support secondary students in turning confusion into clear understanding, developing clear, thoughtful writing and strengthening analytical skills. I specialise in helping KS3 and KS4 students analyse the language, form and structure of any English text, which is a crucial skill needed to pass GCSE Language and Literature. I am particularly accomplished at making complex texts such as Shakespeare plays and poetry accessible rather than daunting. I have helped thousands of students move from failing to passing exams and understand texts they once found impossible.
16-18
Sixth Form

I help students feel confident tackling challenging A Level texts, breaking them down together so ideas become clear and manageable. I work with students to build strong essay skills step by step, developing thoughtful interpretations and the confidence to express themselves clearly in A Level exams.
18+
Adults

I work with adult students to strengthen their reading, writing, and communication skills for professional, academic or personal goals. I can proof read and edit creative writing or academic essays, offering suggestions of how to improve it. Lessons are carefully structured, practical, and tailored to individual needs, whether you are returning to study, preparing for exams or looking to improve confidence and clarity in your writing.

Students have frequently exceeded their predicted grades with many going on to study English at university. Regardless of a student’s specific educational requirements, I take time to understand and reflect on what teaching style best suits my student’s learning needs, so that they achieve their full potential and succeed in examinations. I am highly adaptable and attuned to what will work best for each individual student. I pride myself on having an excellent rapport with students of all ages and abilities, and strive to make my teaching intellectually stimulating, academically rigorous and infused with a sense of fun. By celebrating all my students’ successes, I help them recognise their strengths and believe in their ability to succeed.

Corinna is an excellent tutor in both English literature and language. She knows the English literature texts inside out and explains them to my daughter in a way she can understand. Corinna is very helpful, cheerful and patient and understands children very well.

Adrienne Brankley
from Whitstable

My son is currently tutored by Corinna in the lead up to his GCSE exams. She has been knowledgeable, patient, and supportive throughout his studies. She’s explained ideas clearly, helped him structure strong essays, and given him really useful feedback that is beginning to improve his confidence and his grades.

Gemma Body
from Bearsted

Corinna has had an exceptionally positive influence on my children’s learning over the past few years. She has assisted both of my children—one at primary level and one at secondary level—and has tailored her approach to suit their different ages and needs, brilliantly.
